Advice by Abi : Feel Good Food This February

By hughero 30 Jan 2024

Greenbank Resident, Abi, shares her advice on eating food that makes you feel good this February

Since it has been the exam period throughout January, your motivation to make cheaper, self-made meals may be low and you maybe haven’t had time to explore Liverpool if you have been stuck studying. Not sure what to do now?

Here are some suggestions for places to try around the city!

1. Visit Egg Vegetarian Café

Egg is a vibrant café which makes it a nice spot to meet up with friends or bring a book to read. It’s location is also convenient for students, being near the bottom of Brownlow hill means it is easily walkable from halls, campus or the 699 bus stop at Elliot street for those coming from Greenbank Student Village.

This café is a good spot specifically, for vegetarians or vegans as the whole menu is catered for these diets. There is a range of different drinks and food to choose from if you want to try a new type of diet for ‘Feel Good February’. My friend and I shared a Pistachio and lemon cake which was very tasty!

Visit Egg’s website here.

2. Visit Panoramic 34

Panoramic 34 is a restaurant and bar that has views across the whole city! While it is on the more expensive side for students to visit frequently, it makes a great present for a flatmate, friend’s birthday or as a special treat. The experience and luxury atmosphere make it a memorable spot in the city.

They also serve a typical British afternoon tea which comes with an array of different savoury and sweet foods as well as unlimited teas and coffees.

The building is easy to find as it sticks out amongst the Liverpool sky. Located next to the iconic Liver Building it is also walkable from halls and campus.

3. Visit Las Iguanas

After shopping or looking round the city, a good place to stop at is Las Iguanas. They offer discounts and vouchers so you can get meals and drinks at cheap prices. As it is in Liverpool One, Las Iguanas is in a good location for students to walk to or also get the 699 buses to Elliot Street from Greenbank Student Village.

Serving South American food including Mexican and Brazilian, this restaurant has lots of different things to try so, it is worth going more than once!

Having visited the Las Iguanas in Bath, Cardiff, and Liverpool, I have always had a great time while eating there. Their variety of food and cultures that they come from offers a great experience to try new foods if you haven’t had the opportunity before.

Visit Las Iguanas website for more information.
