New for the 2024/25 academic year, certified first aid training is now a mandatory part of the RA training programme.
Building on the basic first aid training you receive at RA Conference, RAs will now also complete a one day course that leads to the IQL Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work qualification. The training will cover a range of CPR and first aid skills, enabling you to give first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill whilst at work.
Four sessions where this training can be completed will be offered across the academic year: two in Semester One and two in Semester Two.
RAs are expected to sign up to and complete one of these sessions unless you already hold this qualification (in date).
These training sessions will be led by Katie Lynch from Sport Liverpool, will normally take place on a Saturday at the Sports and Fitness Centre on Campus, typically running between 9.30am and 4pm (with a 40 minute break around 12pm for lunch). The training involves a mix of practical work and theoretical classroom work and the qualification you will receive at the end of the training is valid for three years.
Dates for the sessions taking place have been confirmed as:
- Saturday 12th October
- Saturday 2nd November
- Saturday 15th March
- Saturday 29th March
Spaces at each training session are strictly limited to 12 people in total and sign up will be on a first come, first served basis. As the vast majority of the RA team require this training and spaces per session are limited, there will only be scope to sign up to one date across the year. It is vital that when you select a date to sign up to that you ensure you are available on this date and that you are able to attend for the full day.
