A great way to use up your cupboard ingredients!

Pizza pittas are a tasty lunch or dinner and a great way to use up your cupboard ingredients!

Before you start cooking, here's a few reminders:

  1. Pop open a window in your kitchen to let fresh air in
  2. Keep fire doors closed at all times, even while cooking
  3. Always ask a flatmate to keep an eye on your cooking if you need to leave the room

Ingredients:

  • 4 pitta breads, white or wholemeal
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 pepper, diced
  • Pepperoni or meat-free alternative
  • Mozzarella (broken into small chunks) or cheddar cheese, grated
  • Tomato puree

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees
  2. Cut your pitta breads in half so you end up with 8 halves
  3. Take a teaspoon of tomato puree and spread a thin layer over each half of the pitta bread
  4. Sprinkle the cheese over your pittas before adding your the onion, pepper and pepperoni. These make for a great base but feel free to substitute with or use your favourite toppings such as tomatoes, mushroom, ham, olives etc.
  5. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes until the toppings are cooked, the cheese is melted and your pittas harden! Enjoy!
  6. Once you've finished cooking, be sure to wipe down and clean all the surfaces ready for the next person and turn off all appliances.
