Hello March! 🌞
A brand new month of Sustainable Actions is here. Each month, we round up 5 small actions that you can take to make your time in Halls that bit more sustainable.
The monthly actions follow the HALLS acronym which means we can all get involved in Helping out, an Activity, something to Learn and Listen to and finally one thing you can Share.
Help Out
There are plenty of opportunities to help out in the community with the litter picks we have coming up in March! There are three of them coming up – the 11th, 20th, and 25th March. Take a look at the Guild’s event page to register your interest.
Activity
We’re trying to make food more sustainable for you this month, so why not make a reusable sandwich bag to bring your lunch with you? If salads are more your thing, try learning how to grow microgreens! These are an excellent addition to any salad, or even just as a side to a meal.
Listen
‘Wellness’ is a phrase which gets tossed around a lot these days, but could the pursuit of ‘wellness’ be causing more harm than good? Maintenance Phase is a podcast which seeks to address wellness scams and tackle falsehoods about nutrition and dieting. Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, or Google Podcasts!
Learn
If you’re feeling a bit adventurous, come on our foraging expedition to Port Sunlight, where we’ll be learning the basics of foraging! Our expert forager, Daniel, will talk about the history of foraging, the importance of learning where our food comes from, and how we can make more informed choices about the food we eat.
While you’re out on the walk, we’ll be on the hunt for wild garlic which we’ll bring back to campus to whip up into a delicious pesto! Book your ticket at the link above.
