Here at Halls Life, we are passionate about finding ways to live sustainably in Halls 💚
We’ve teamed up with the Guild of Students and the University’s Sustainability Team to bring you Halls exclusive events, competitions and opportunities to help residents learn more about sustainable living this year.
Your time as a resident in Halls is an opportunity to learn about how you can make valuable, positive impacts on the environment and encourage those around you to make better choices. The skills that you learn here in Halls are ones that you can take onto your next accommodation meaning that your small actions can continue to make a big impact no matter where you live.
Here’s how you can get involved this year…
Throughout the year we'll have different events and activities to get stuck into. These may be activities that you take part in yourself, with your flatmates or even as a Hall!
Flat Recycling Audits 🥫
In November and March, the Guild’s Sustainability team will carry out what we call ‘Recycling Audits’ (where they check your kitchen’s bins to see if you and your flatmates are recycling properly)! Your flat will be left a scorecard to let you know how much of a great job you’re doing as well as feedback. Kitchens who score well will be left a prize!
Recycle well and help your Hall score well and climb the leader board to be in with a chance of winning an end of year prize. We’ll let you know when the first audit is taking place.
Grown your own greens, nature walks & clothes repair sessions🌿
The Guild’s Sustainability team will be bringing green-inspired events exclusively for Halls students all year round. There’ll be something for everyone to get involved in from growing your own greens, reusable period pad making, learning how to repair your own clothes, enjoying a nature walk or hopping on a bike ride. Stay tuned with the Guild’s Give it a Go page when you arrive to book on.
These events are for both students living in University of Liverpool Halls and University Approved Halls.
Bike Hire & repair workshops 🚲
Free, regular bike repair workshops will be taking place at Greenbank Student Village. If your bike is in need of some TLC, just bring it along to the Bikiosk at Greenbank where the Peloton team will advice and tips on how to keep your bike in top condition.
Hire a bike at Greenbank for free! Whether you want to find the best cycle routes in the city, explore what Liverpool has to see or find a more sustainable way to travel to campus (first come, first served). You’ll also catch a guided bike rides to help you find the best cycle routes to and from campus.

Plus you can expect quizzes (with prizes) to test your knowledge on all sustainability. Don't worry we're not here to see how well you score, instead we just encourage you to learn something new and be in with a chance of winning a prize!
