Don't dump it, donate it!

The inevitable task of packing up your room (😪) is soon approaching with summer on it's way and end of term is nearly here.

Your room will need to be left clean and tidy ready for inspection after you depart, meaning you'll need to take all your items with you or find somewhere to donate.

To make things a bit easier for you, the Guild of Students have launched their annual Leave Liverpool Tidy campaign. To save items going to waste and landfill and to support amazing charities, you can donate your unwanted items from your Hall reception.

Look out for donation boxes in your Hall reception from Friday 9th May. Official Leave Liverpool Tidy donation bags will be available from 22nd May in your Hall reception.

Before you donate, remember:

  • To make sure your donations are clean and dry, no mouldy plates please!
  • Ensure donation bags are clearly labelled so we know they are for Leave Liverpool Tidy
  • From 22nd May, pick up an official Leave Liverpool Tidy bag from your Hall reception to bag up your items. You can donate using your own bags before this date but be sure to label your bag first!

🔴 Donate to British Heart Foundation:

Look out for the big red box in your Hall reception area and donate unwanted:

👕 clothes & shoes

🎩 accessories

📚 books

🍶 plates, cups, cutlery

⚡ small working electricals

Please do not donate duvets, pillows, knives, broken or dirty items

🥫 Donate to Fareshare:

Look out for the crate in your Hall reception and donate unwanted:

🍚 unopened dried foods e.g. pasta, rice

🥫 tins, jars of food

Please do not donate out of date, perishable or opened food items

🔋 Other recyclable items:

Don't forget to donate old batteries to the battery bin in your Hall reception.

Any perishable food items can go in your food waste bin but be sure to remove the packaging first!

Why donate?

Donating your belongings means that they won't go to landfill! Not only does this have a positive impact on the environment by reducing the amount of waste, but also helps raise funds for charity. Donating your food to FareShare supports the fight against food poverty and waste in the UK. We're all about reducing, reusing and recycling!

When can I donate?

Donation boxes for British Heart Foundation and FareShare will be put up in Hall receptions (Crown, Greenbank, Vine, Dover, Philharmonic) from Friday 9th May!

Melville & Tudor students can donate using Vine Court's donation point.

How can you donate?

All you need to do is place your unwanted items into a clean bag and please tie it to make sure nothing gets damaged or falls out. Simply label it up to say 'Leave Liverpool Tidy' and drop your items off in the donation boxes in your Hall reception.

There are also on-site permanent bank locations for British Heart Foundation outside of Vine Court, Dover Court, Greenbank and Peach Street Car Park.

Got other items to donate?

We know that not all plastics are easily recyclable or that you might have old tech to get rid of. Check out the official Leave Liverpool Tidy page for more info on donating on campus.
