Student Abi shares her fave places to visit around the city

Whether you are a fresher or 3rd year, Liverpool has so many cafes, restaurants and places that make great study spots or places to meet up with friends. There are locations near campus halls in the city as well as, by Greenbank Student village for those living off campus.

Need to get some work done? Here are some great places to study and eat in around Liverpool.

Sefton Park Palm House

Only a 5–10-minute walk from Greenbank Student Village is the top end of Sefton Park. The 699 bus is available to catch from campus which stops just by the accommodation, making it easily accessible for any student. In this area of the park is the Palm House which makes a great study spot on a sunny day. There is seating outside as well as, an indoor café where you can study amongst palm trees and other tropical plants. If you fancy a break from studying, there is the whole of Sefton Park to explore!

Check opening times before visiting as the gardens are sometimes used for private events so, will be closed to the public.

The Watering Can

Similarly, The Watering Can is also a great café, and it is practically right next to Greenbank Student Village! It has a variety of delicious cakes as welk as hot food and coffees. There is lots of room to study or, to invite friends and flatmates. The owners also have another café down Greenbank Lane called The WheelBarrow.

Café Marmalade

By the north of campus is café Marmalade it is a Mediterranean eatery with various meals and sweet treats available. The café has a vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff as well as, 2 floors where you can study while people watching. There is enough room to work on group projects or coursework while, enjoying a nice coffee.

Papillon

Near the other end of campus is Papillon, located in the Georgian quarter, it is set amongst one of the prettiest areas of the city. With room outdoors an in, aesthetic interior and range of food options, Papillon makes a nice place to study or enjoy some brunch. Plus they have student deals!

Café Tabac

If you are into the arts, film or history, Café Tabac is the place to visit. With it’s location on Bold Street, it is easy to get to from campus if you want a lively and interesting place to get some work done.  They are known for their breakfasts but, also serve coffees and cocktails if you don’t fancy food.

Crust

While Crust is a restaurant rather than a study spot, it does have a breakfast menu and, is still a great place to enjoy a meal out with friends. Also located on Bold Street, Crust serves various pastas and pizzas which are homemade. Having been here multiple times, the food has always been great and reasonably priced for what you receive. Bear in mind, it can get very busy around lunch time so, make sure to plan your visit accordingly.
