Summer is here and what better place to spend it than in Liverpool?
1. Sight See!
You might call Liverpool home by now but there's no reason why you can't be a tourist in your own city! Thankfully in Liverpool you can do lots of sightseeing across the city for free. Take a stroll along the Pier Head and spot the three graces before wandering around the Albert Dock. Heading down to the water front from campus? You can pop into the two cathedrals on your way there!
If you fancy a bit more culture and art, the Museum of Liverpool, Walker Art Gallery, Tate Museum (currently located at Mann Island) and more are completely free to enter. If that's not enough for you, wander around the city centre and spot the Chinese Arch, Bombed Out Church, Town Hall and Bluecoat!

3. Movie Night
We know that the sunny weather is not always guaranteed in Liverpool so why not plan a flat movie night? Having a movie night is a perfect way to spend a night in with flatmates (or watch alone!) and not spend lots of money.
Why not take it in turns between your friends to each choose a film and that way you'll get to watch something new? Did you know that the libraries here at the University have platforms where you can watch films for free and even have a summer cinema playlist? Check out Kanopy, BoB and BFI player here.
4. Guild Give it a Go activities
The Guild have summer activities and trips available to book for free! Unwind after a day in the library with a crafternoon or try an exclusive tour of the Garstang museum right here on campus!

5. Liverpool Biennial
Liverpool Biennial takes place every summer across Liverpool's galleries and museums and is the UK's largest free festival of contemporary visual art.

6. Try a new recipe
Trying a new recipe can be a good way to learn a new skill and score some brownie points with your flatmates! Mob is your go to for tasty recipes for everyone. You can even filter out recipes based on the cost. So if you're looking for a recipe that's under £10 or even £5, Mob have got you covered here. Or give Pinch of Nom a follow on Instagram for delicious, affordable and simple recipes perfect for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert!
If you have ingredients already in the cupboard but don't know what to make or don't buy more ingredients, all you need to do is use a recipe generator and it'll work out all the possibilities for you! Try a recipe generator here.
7. Exercise
Exercise is free! Whether on a nice, long walk or maybe even a jog is your thing then you could join a Run For All with Sport Liverpool or try a free Turn up and Play session which are totally commitment-free and open to all abilities!
Turn Up and Play sessions this summer are Pickleball and take place on Thursdays 5-6pm in the upstairs sports hall at the Sports and Fitness centre (please note that some sessions will not run due to Graduation in July).
Join the Whatsapp group for the latest updates on Turn Up and Play.
8. Start a new book
There's no better feeling than having a spare few hours to relax and get stuck into a new book. Finding a new book doesn't need to come at any extra cost either. Why not borrow a book from the library (the University libraries offer non-academic books too!!) or ask a friend to do a swap? Having a friend pick out a book for you means you might be open to reading something new that you wouldn't necessarily pick yourself!
Or you can read on your tablet or phone for free using Libby App!
9. Make the most of Liverpool's green spaces
If the weather is on your side, make the most of Liverpool's green spaces and explore the amazing parks we have in the city. Find out more about the city's parks, green spaces and walks here.
You can visit Ness Botanic Gardens for a day out for just £1, as long as you have your Student ID card!
