Want to find out more about joining your Hall's Student Committee? How you can get involved in planning events and enhancing experience in your Hall's community? You're in the right place!
What is a Halls Student Committee?
Each Halls of residence has a Halls Student Committee (HSC) that anyone can be a part of. Each HSC is made up of residents who volunteer to work together to make sure everyone has the best time whilst living in Halls.
What do the HSC's do?
HSCs are there to represent residents in your Hall and help everyone feel right at home. HSCs help shape student experience of residents living in that Hall by building a sense of community and bringing students together.
Each HSC has a budget which can be used for planning events, activities and trips or to purchasing items to promote a sense of community within the Halls.
Previous HSCs have organised seasonal events such as Earth Day, Lunar New Year, Holi and Diwali celebrations, Halloween events, Earth Day themed activities. Other events include crafternoons, summer carnivals, cinema trips, pottery painting, as well as making purchases to enhance their communal spaces.
Why should I do it?
Becoming a member of the HSC is a great way to make new friends and represent your fellow students. Being a HSC member will help you develop skills you may not work on in day to day university life e.g. problem solving, event planning, budgeting, leadership, time management, planning and communication.
We also asked our HSC’s what their favourite thing was about being on the HSC. Here’s what they had to say:
- “Having the freedom and flexibility to come up with new activities and also to represent the entire residents living in Tudor”
- “Working with team members”
- “Learning how to organise events and talk to network with so many people!”
There'll also be networking evenings to help you meet other halls students, make new friends, share ideas and have the opportunity to collaborate on exciting, joint events with other Halls!
Is it too late to join?
HSCs welcome new members at any time in the year! If you want to get involved with planning your hall's next event, email hsc@liverpool.ac.uk!
Semester 2 HSC Training will take place online on Wednesday 5th February 2025 (afternoon). At training you'll learn more about what HSCs do, how to plan a successful event and how you can make a difference in your Hall.
We can't wait to see what's in store for our HSC's for 2024/25! ✨
