Leave Liverpool Tidy: Donate your belongings

By hannahk 07 May 2024

Soon it'll be time to pack up your room and donate your unwanted belongings...

As the end of term approaches, you might be thinking about packing up all your stuff! To reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and to support the British Heart Foundation, we are working with the Guild to create donation points in Halls.

Don't dump it, donate it! Look out for large red British Heart Foundation Boxes in your reception as well as Fareshare boxes where you can donate unwanted dried food items.

Why donate?

Donating your belongings means that they won't go to landfill! Not only does this have a positive impact on the environment by reducing the amount of waste, but also helps raise funds for charity. Donating your food to FareShare supports the fight against food poverty and waste in the UK. We're all about reducing, reusing and recycling!

When can I donate?

Donation boxes for British Heart Foundation and FareShare will be put up in Hall receptions (Crown, Greenbank, Vine, Dover, Philharmonic) any time from now so keep an eye out over the coming weeks.

What can you donate?

British Heart Foundation:

Please donate unwanted clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, books, computer games, CDs, DVDs, electrical items, crockery and homeware. Please do not donate knives, hangers or dirty and damaged items. Pillows and duvets cannot be donated either.

Fareshare:

Any food items donated to FareShare should be dried, unopened and non-perishable food e.g. dried pasta, tins, cans, jars.

Please use the correct donation boxes for your items!

How can you donate?

All you need to do is place your unwanted items into a clean bag and please tie it to make sure nothing gets damaged or falls out. Simply drop your items off in the donation boxes in your Hall reception.

There are also on-site permanent bank locations for British Heart Foundation outside of Vine Court, Dover Court, Greenbank and Peach Street Car Park.
